Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
- Optional: 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Warm the milk until just slightly warmer than body temperature. Combine with sugar and yeast, allowing it to foam for about 5-10 minutes.
- Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Once the yeast mixture is bubbly, add it to the flour along with the eggs and melted butter.
- Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1-1.5 hours.
- Prepare the filling by mixing softened cream cheese with desired herbs or flavors.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out. Cut into squares, place a spoonful of cream cheese mixture in the center, and fold to seal.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush tops with melted butter and bake until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a crunchy top, sprinkle a bit of sugar on top before baking. Avoid overloading the filling to prevent messy rolls.
