Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken (breast or thighs), diced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar (optional)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1-2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients: Start by dicing your chicken into bite-sized pieces. Mince your garlic and chop green onions, setting them aside for later.
- Cook the chicken: In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Season the chicken with salt and pepper, then add it to the pan. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until golden brown.
- Add the garlic: Once the chicken is nearly done, add in your minced garlic and sauté for another minute, ensuring it doesn’t burn.
- Create the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, and sesame oil. For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water until smooth.
- Combine and cook: Pour the sauce over the chicken, stir to coat, and let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
- Garnish and serve: Toss in your chopped green onions right at the end. Serve over rice or noodles.
Notes
For variations, consider adding vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas. To make it vegetarian, substitute chicken with tofu or shrimp.
