A comforting Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwich layered with tender, shredded beef and served with a rich au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 chuck roast
  • 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 French baguettes or hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Season the chuck roast generously with salt and pepper. Sear it in a hot skillet until all sides develop a lovely crust.
  2. Transfer the roast to the slow cooker. Add in thinly sliced onions, minced garlic, and all the herbs.
  3. Pour the beef broth over the roast, followed by Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Set your slow cooker on low and let it cook for 8 hours.
  5. Shred the beef right in the cooker with two forks.
  6. Toast the rolls lightly, fill each with shredded beef, and top with cheese before broiling briefly until melted.
  7. Prepare individual bowls of au jus for dipping.
