Ingredients
- 8 oz steak (flank or sirloin), seasoned with salt, pepper, and minced garlic
- 4 slices of cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or provolone)
- 4 slices of hearty, crusty bread (sourdough, ciabatta, or Texas toast)
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the steak: Season with salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Allow to rest and slice thinly.
- Prepare the bread: Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer it up: Heat the skillet and lay a slice of bread butter-side down. Add cheese, sliced steak, more cheese, and top with another slice of bread butter-side up.
- Grill to perfection: Cook until the bread is golden, about 3-4 minutes, then gently flip and cook until the cheese is melted and the other side is browned.
- Serve: Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately with crispy fries or a salad.
