Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 bag frozen hash browns or diced potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: paprika for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Mix together the beef mixture with the cream of soup and shredded cheese in a large bowl; season with salt and pepper.
  5. Fold in the frozen potatoes until well coated.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil, top with additional cheese, and bake for another 15-20 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added crunch, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle on top during the last few minutes of baking.
