Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs (or flaxseed meal mixed with water for a vegan option)
- 1/2 cup melted butter or coconut oil
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Add melted butter (or oil) to the mashed bananas and stir until combined.
- Mix in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs (or flax alternative), and vanilla extract.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack and cutting into squares.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for a week. These brownies freeze well for up to 3 months.
