Ingredients
- 1 cup high-quality dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter in a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring between intervals until smooth.
- Mix in granulated sugar, followed by eggs—one at a time—ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Sift together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold this dry mixture into your chocolate batter.
- Pour the mixture into your prepared pan and smooth the top. Optionally, sprinkle chocolate chips or nuts on top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For a gooier texture, underbake slightly. Use parchment paper to avoid sticking.
