Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs (thyme or chives), chopped
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, add onions, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes. Lower heat and cook for an additional 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix the base: In a bowl, combine cream cheese and sour cream; beat until smooth.
- Add the flavor: Stir in garlic, caramelized onions, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix in herbs.
- Chill and serve: Transfer dip to a container and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
Notes
Let the onions caramelize slowly for the best flavor. This dip pairs wonderfully with crunchy veggies or toasted bread.
