A delightful dessert that perfectly balances sweet and tart, featuring fresh apples in a buttery cake.

  • Total Time: 65 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 to 3 cups peeled, diced apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: in a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  6. Combine the wet and dry mixtures, alternating with the milk.
  7. Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
  8. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar or serve warm with ice cream if desired.

Notes

Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Don’t skip greasing your baking pan!
