Delicious sautéed mushrooms infused with garlic, butter, and fresh herbs, perfect as a side dish or centerpiece.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Cremini or Button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or olive oil for a lighter option)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or rosemary/oregano)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: splash of white wine

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and slice them evenly.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat until it begins to foam.
  3. Sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Cook the sliced mushrooms, stirring to coat them in the butter. Allow to sauté without stirring for 5-7 minutes until caramelized.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir to combine and cook for another 5 minutes until golden and tender.
  6. Serve warm as a side dish or over toast.

Notes

Avoid crowding the pan for proper caramelization. For a richer flavor, add a splash of white wine after sautéing the mushrooms, letting it reduce before finishing.
