Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1/2 cup protein powder
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sautéed mushrooms
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or chives)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Melt a tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat, add chopped mushrooms and minced garlic, and sauté until golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- Whisk melted butter, eggs, and sautéed mushroom mixture in another bowl until combined.
- Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined.
- Pat the dough into a rectangle, about 1-inch thick on a floured surface. Cut out biscuits and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
For flaky layers, handle the dough gently and keep butter cold. Biscuits are great warm or can be stored in an airtight container for later.
