A delightful sweet-and-salty chicken dish marinated in soy sauce and sesame oil, perfect for grilling or stir-frying.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken (breast or thighs)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Start by slicing the chicken into thin strips.
  2. Make the marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Whisk until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Marinate: Place the sliced chicken in a resealable plastic bag or a bowl. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes—an hour is even better if time permits.
  4. Cook: Grill the chicken over medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side until there’s a nice char, or cook in a skillet over medium heat for 10-12 minutes until fully cooked.
  5. Garnish: Transfer the chicken to a serving platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  6. Serve: Pair the chicken with steamed rice and your choice of veggies, or serve in lettuce leaves for wraps.

Notes

Feel free to customize the marinade with different spices or add vegetables for extra flavor and texture.
