Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meatball mixture by combining ground meat, garlic, paprika, cumin, Italian herbs, Parmesan, and salt and pepper in a large bowl.
  2. Form meatballs about 1 to 2 inches in diameter and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Cook the meatballs in a large skillet with oil over medium heat until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes per batch.
  4. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
  5. Sauté the sliced mushrooms in the same skillet until golden and fragrant, about 4-5 minutes.
  6. Make the cream sauce by pouring heavy cream into the skillet, scraping up any browned bits, and adding cayenne pepper if desired.
  7. Combine the meatballs back into the sauce and let them simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Finish with freshly chopped parsley or basil before serving.

Notes
