Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a half-sheet pan.
- Mix the dry ingredients: whisk together flour, sugar, and cocoa powder.
- Combine the wet ingredients: melt butter and add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring until just combined.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Prepare the frosting by melting butter and mixing in cocoa powder, then add milk and powdered sugar.
- Frost the cooled cake and add nuts if desired.
- Cool completely before slicing and serving.
