A comforting and flavorful grilled cheese sandwich featuring garlic, melty cheeses, and hearty bread.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 slices hearty bread (sourdough or ciabatta)
  • 1 cup melty cheese (mozzarella and aged cheddar blend)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • Fresh herbs (basil or parsley)
  • Optional: sautéed mushrooms
  • Optional: chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Start by gathering all your ingredients. Mince the garlic and slice your bread as needed.
  2. Sauté the garlic: In a skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about a minute until fragrant.
  3. Assemble the sandwich: Spread the remaining butter on one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side, layer a generous amount of cheese and sprinkle with herbs and sautéed garlic.
  4. Grill to perfection: Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place the sandwich, buttered side down, in the pan. Grill for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Flip carefully and repeat on the other side until the cheese is melted.
  5. Serve: Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately, maybe with a side of tomato soup for dipping.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider adding fresh veggies or using whole grain bread for extra fiber.
