Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 packet instant dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup warm milk (or plant-based milk)
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted (or vegan butter)
- 1 beaten egg (or flax egg)
- ½ cup softened butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1-2 cups sliced fresh strawberries (or thawed frozen strawberries)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by mixing flour, yeast, sugar, and salt, then adding warm milk and melted butter.
- Add the beaten egg and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for 1-2 hours.
- Prepare the filling by combining softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about ¼-inch thick.
- Spread the filling over the dough and sprinkle with sliced strawberries.
- Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 pieces.
- Let the rolls rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
- Make the glaze by whisking powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Glaze the warm rolls with the icing.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for a week. Freezing is also an option for both unbaked and baked rolls.
