Ingredients
- 2 lbs Chicken (breast or thighs)
- 2 tbsp Sweet Hungarian Paprika
- 2 Onions, chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 cup Sour cream
- 2 cups Chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 Bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- 2 tbsp Butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Start by chopping the onions and garlic. If you’re using chicken thighs, you can leave them whole or cut them into pieces for quicker cooking.
- Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onions, allowing them to soften, about 4-5 minutes. Toss in the garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Brown the Chicken: Increase the heat slightly and add the chicken to the skillet, browning it on all sides.
- Add Paprika: Sprinkle in the paprika, stirring to coat the chicken and onions. Let it bloom for a minute.
- Pour in the Broth: Add the broth to the skillet, simmering gently for 20-25 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
- Finish with Cream: Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream until well combined. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve your Chicken Paprikash over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
Taste as you go and adjust flavors gradually. Adding a splash of vinegar or lemon juice enhances the dish.
