- 1 Boxed Vanilla Cake Mix
- 1 lb Fresh Strawberries
- 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan. Follow the instructions on your boxed cake mix to create a delicious vanilla cake. Allow it to cool completely.
- Prepare the Strawberries: Wash and slice the strawberries. Set aside a handful for garnish, and toss the rest with a scoop of sugar. Let them sit to release their juices.
- Poke the Cake: Once the cake is cool, use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface of the cake, about every inch or so.
- Add the Condensed Milk: Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the surface of the cake, letting it settle into the holes.
- Incorporate the Strawberries: Spoon the sugared strawberry mixture over the cake, ensuring even coverage.
- Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, combine heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar, then whip until stiff peaks form. Fold in a splash of vanilla extract.
- Top It Off: Gently spread the whipped cream over the strawberry layer.
- Chill and Serve: Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes. Top with reserved strawberries before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using almond extract with the vanilla.
