Ingredients
- 3 cups frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (or coconut oil)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine the frozen berries, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a large bowl. Toss gently until coated, then transfer to a greased baking dish.
- Mix the oats, flour, the remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar, salt, and the remaining cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the topping over the berry layer, covering it completely.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving warm, preferably with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Ensure to use cold butter for a flaky topping. Consider adding chopped nuts for extra crunch.
