Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 batch cream cheese frosting (cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar)
- Sprinkles or fresh berries for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare two 8-inch round cake pans by greasing and lining with parchment paper.
- Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour in the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry mix. Stir until just combined.
- Bake the cakes for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost the cakes with cream cheese frosting and decorate with sprinkles or berries.
Notes
For a healthier version, consider using whole wheat flour and reducing sugar. Fresh fruit can be added to increase nutritional value.
