Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
- Prepare your vegetable mixture by sautéing onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers in olive oil.
- Whisk the eggs in a large bowl, adding milk, salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Layer the bread cubes, then scatter the sautéed vegetables on top.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top generously.
- Bake uncovered for 35-45 minutes until set and golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Allow the casserole to rest for about 10 minutes to help it hold its shape. Use day-old bread for better texture.
