Ingredients
- 1 batch pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 cup tomato sauce (marinara)
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
- 1/2 cup bell peppers, sliced
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh basil, for garnish
- Oregano, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: If you’re making your own, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Mix in flour and salt, kneading until smooth. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about an hour.
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Shape the Dough: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface. Form a heart shape by creating a round base and pushing one side to form the point.
- Add the Sauce: Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a slight border for the crust.
- Sprinkle the Cheese: Layer on the mozzarella cheese so it melts beautifully.
- Add Toppings: Customize with sautéed mushrooms, sliced peppers, pepperoni, and any desired toppings.
- Bake: Place the pizza on a hot pizza stone or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese bubbles.
- Finishing Touches: Once done, sprinkle fresh herbs on top to enhance the flavors.
- Slice and Enjoy: Allow to cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
Experiment with different toppings and cheese for personal preference. Can use whole wheat flour for a healthier crust.
