Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Colorful Easter Peeps, for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare the cookie dough by creaming together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Continue beating until everything is smoothly combined.
- Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda in a separate bowl. Gradually add this dry mix to the wet ingredients and blend gently until just combined.
- Spread the cookie batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing out the top evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Decorate with Peeps and your favorite sprinkles once the bars are cool, letting them set for a bit.
Notes
To ensure the best texture, do not overmix the dough after adding the flour. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days.
