Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsulfured molasses
  • 1 large egg

  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and spices.
  3. In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Roll teaspoon-sized balls of dough and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are firm.
  9. Cool on the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Drizzle the icing made with powdered sugar and milk over the cookies.
