- 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, sliced into 1-inch pieces
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Maple syrup or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Slice the bread and arrange it in a greased baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Pour the custard over the bread, ensuring each piece soaks well, and scatter blueberries on top.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and rest the casserole for 15 minutes before baking.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with syrup or cream.

Use day-old bread for the best texture; adjust the type of berries based on personal preference.
