Delightful homemade peppermint patties that combine refreshing mint with rich chocolate for a perfect holiday treat.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 24 patties

Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1 tsp mint extract
  • 2-4 tbsp milk or water (adjust for consistency)
  • 8 oz chocolate (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar and cocoa powder, whisking together until even.
  2. Add coconut oil and mint extract, then slowly add milk or water until it forms a soft dough.
  3. Roll small handfuls of dough into balls and flatten to form patties, aiming for ¼ inch thickness.
  4. Place patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  5. While chilling, melt the chocolate in the microwave in short bursts, stirring to avoid burning.
  6. Dip each patty into the melted chocolate using a fork, allowing excess to drip off before returning to the sheet.
  7. Let the coated patties set completely, refrigerating again to speed up the process if desired.

Notes

Using room temperature ingredients helps for easier mixing. Always taste the dough to adjust the mint flavor to your liking.
