Ingredients

  • Beef (chuck or brisket)
  • Cheese (Swiss or provolone)
  • Crust (puff pastry or crescent dough)
  • Mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • Onions (sweet or yellow)
  • Beef broth
  • Garlic (fresh cloves)
  • Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic in a skillet until onions are translucent.
  3. Add sliced mushrooms and cook until golden brown.
  4. In a pot, cook the beef in beef broth until tender enough to shred; season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  5. Mix shredded beef with sautéed onion and mushrooms; add chopped fresh herbs.
  6. Roll out puff pastry or crescent dough, cut into squares, and fill with the beef mixture and cheese.
  7. Fold and seal the dough; brush the tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
