Ingredients
- 1 cup long-grain rice (Basmati or jasmine)
- 3-4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and golden.
- Stir in the ground turmeric and toast for about 30 seconds.
- Add the rinsed rice and sauté for 1-2 minutes to coat it in the garlic-turmeric mixture.
- Pour in the broth, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a light boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until all the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat, fluff the rice with a fork, and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Notes
For variations, try using brown rice or adding greens like spinach for extra nutrition.
