Ingredients
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 tsp peppermint extract (use pure for best results)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz dark chocolate, for coating
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and sift the powdered sugar and cocoa to avoid lumps.
- In a mixing bowl, combine sifted powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and softened butter. Mix with a hand mixer until fluffy.
- Add peppermint extract and heavy cream gradually, mixing until smooth.
- Dust your work surface with powdered sugar and shape the filling into balls, then flatten into patties.
- Refrigerate the shaped patties for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt dark chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
- Dip each chilled patty in melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off, then place them on a parchment-lined sheet.
- Let the chocolate harden at room temperature or refrigerate for faster results.
- Once set, enjoy or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, substitute coconut oil for butter and almond or coconut milk for heavy cream. You can also use milk chocolate if preferred, but it will be sweeter.
