Delightful homemade peppermint patties with a creamy mint center coated in rich dark chocolate, perfect for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 24 patties

Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract (use pure for best results)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, for coating

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients and sift the powdered sugar and cocoa to avoid lumps.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sifted powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and softened butter. Mix with a hand mixer until fluffy.
  3. Add peppermint extract and heavy cream gradually, mixing until smooth.
  4. Dust your work surface with powdered sugar and shape the filling into balls, then flatten into patties.
  5. Refrigerate the shaped patties for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  6. Melt dark chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  7. Dip each chilled patty in melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off, then place them on a parchment-lined sheet.
  8. Let the chocolate harden at room temperature or refrigerate for faster results.
  9. Once set, enjoy or store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute coconut oil for butter and almond or coconut milk for heavy cream. You can also use milk chocolate if preferred, but it will be sweeter.
