A comforting casserole featuring sweet potatoes, maple syrup, raisins, and a crunchy pecan topping, perfect for family gatherings.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 0.5 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.25 cup butter or coconut oil
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil cubed sweet potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes, or bake at 400°F for about an hour.
  2. Drain and mash sweet potatoes. Stir in maple syrup, butter (or coconut oil), salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  3. Fold in raisins evenly into the mashed sweet potatoes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix chopped pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon.
  5. Spread sweet potato mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle pecan topping over it.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes, until topping is golden.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, replace butter with coconut oil. This dish pairs well with roast turkey or glazed ham.
