Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add milk, melted butter, minced garlic, and rosemary to the yeast mixture.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Place your kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Once doubled, punch down the dough gently to release air. Divide it into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
  7. Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking dish, cover with a clean cloth, and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  9. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle a little salt on top. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Allowing the rolls to rest enhances the flavor; don’t skip the rise for fluffy rolls.
