  • Total Time: 240 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • ½ cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • Red Food Coloring (to desired hue)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and buttermilk until well combined.
  2. Sift in the cocoa powder and mix thoroughly. Add the red food coloring and adjust to your desired color.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and cream cheese until smooth. Feel free to add any mix-ins at this stage.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour.
  5. Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually about 20-25 minutes).
  6. Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours to firm up.
  7. Scoop into bowls and enjoy!

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and buttermilk with a milk-vinegar mixture. Serve with chocolate sauce or whipped cream for added indulgence.
