- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp matcha powder (for matcha flavor)
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for cocoa flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- Whisk together flour and baking powder in another bowl, then gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
- For matcha cookies, add matcha powder and fold into the dough. For cocoa cookies, substitute some flour with cocoa powder.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to ¼-inch thickness and use cookie cutters to shape cookies.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden. Cool on a wire rack.
- Decorate with icing and sprinkles once cooled.
Notes
Chill the dough for easier rolling and avoid overbaking for soft cookies.
