A festive and delicious bread shaped like a Christmas tree, filled with gooey cheese and aromatic herbs, perfect for holiday gatherings.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 package of store-bought pizza dough
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash) or a mixture of milk and water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out your dough into a rectangle on a floured surface, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Sprinkle generously with mozzarella and cheddar, along with your chosen herbs and garlic.
  4. Fold the dough in half lengthwise and pinch the edges to seal the cheese inside.
  5. Cut out a tree shape, leaving the center intact to form the trunk.
  6. Make cuts on either side of the triangle to create ‘branches.’
  7. Gently pull apart the branches to create a layered effect.
  8. Brush the entire tree with egg wash or milk and water mixture.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle sea salt and extra herbs on top.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra cheesy goodness, consider including small cubed pieces of cheese within the branches before sealing. Best enjoyed warm.
