Deliciously seasoned meatballs filled with gooey mozzarella, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or pork
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried parsley (or fresh)
  • 1 tsp dried basil (or fresh)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and herbs. Add in the egg and mix gently.
  3. Take a tablespoon of the mixture, flatten it, and place a mozzarella cube in the center. Encase the cheese and roll into a ball.
  4. Place the meatballs on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between them. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for a crisp exterior if desired.
  6. Serve with marinara sauce over pasta, or enjoy on their own.

Notes

For an enhanced flavor, consider browning the meatballs in a skillet before baking. Allow them to rest for a few minutes after baking for the cheese to settle.
