Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or pork
- 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, cubed
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried parsley (or fresh)
- 1 tsp dried basil (or fresh)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and herbs. Add in the egg and mix gently.
- Take a tablespoon of the mixture, flatten it, and place a mozzarella cube in the center. Encase the cheese and roll into a ball.
- Place the meatballs on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between them. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for a crisp exterior if desired.
- Serve with marinara sauce over pasta, or enjoy on their own.
Notes
For an enhanced flavor, consider browning the meatballs in a skillet before baking. Allow them to rest for a few minutes after baking for the cheese to settle.
