Ingredients
- 2 pounds Yukon Gold or red potatoes
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, crushed
- 4 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, or chives), for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the potatoes by scrubbing and boiling them in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 to 20 minutes. Let them cool slightly.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Smash the potatoes on a parchment-lined baking sheet using a sturdy glass or fork, creating cracks for crispiness.
- Melt butter in a saucepan, add crushed garlic, and sauté until golden and fragrant. Drizzle over the smashed potatoes and season with salt and black pepper.
- Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown, broiling for an extra 2-3 minutes if desired.
- Finish with fresh herbs before serving.
- Allow to cool for a moment before enjoying for better texture.
Notes
Potatoes should be at room temperature before cooking for optimal crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet.
