A refreshing homemade lemon iced tea that captures the essence of summer with its bright, zesty flavor and comforting sweetness.

  • Total Time: 120 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of water
  • 4-6 black tea bags (or your favorite herbal tea)
  • 1-2 lemons, juiced (and zest if desired)
  • ½ to 1 cup of sugar (adjust based on sweetness preference)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the water: Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Steep the tea: Remove the boiling water from heat and add the tea bags. Let steep for about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Add sweetness: Remove the tea bags and stir in sugar until dissolved while the tea is warm.
  4. Incorporate lemons: Squeeze in the juice of one or two lemons. Optionally, add the lemon zest.
  5. Chill: Allow the tea to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least two hours.
  6. Serve: Pour the chilled tea over ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices.

Notes

Use filtered water for best flavor. Experiment with sweeteners and add fruits for unique flavor variations.
