A nostalgic and delicious Cinnamon Swirl Bread recipe that fills the home with warmth and sweetness.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf (approximately 12 slices)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activating the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle in the yeast. Let it sit for about 5–7 minutes until frothy.
  2. Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling: While the dough rises, mix together sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter to create a spreadable paste.
  6. Roll out the dough: Once risen, gently punch down the dough and roll it out to a rectangular shape, roughly 12×18 inches.
  7. Spread the filling: Evenly coat the rolled-out dough with the cinnamon mixture, leaving about an inch border on all sides.
  8. Roll it up: Starting from one long end, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams together and tuck the ends under to seal.
  9. Second rise: Place the rolled dough seam side down in a greased loaf pan. Cover it loosely with a cloth and allow it to rise for another 30–45 minutes.
  10. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once risen, bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool and enjoy: Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
