Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activating the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle in the yeast. Let it sit for about 5–7 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the filling: While the dough rises, mix together sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter to create a spreadable paste.
- Roll out the dough: Once risen, gently punch down the dough and roll it out to a rectangular shape, roughly 12×18 inches.
- Spread the filling: Evenly coat the rolled-out dough with the cinnamon mixture, leaving about an inch border on all sides.
- Roll it up: Starting from one long end, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams together and tuck the ends under to seal.
- Second rise: Place the rolled dough seam side down in a greased loaf pan. Cover it loosely with a cloth and allow it to rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once risen, bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and enjoy: Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
