Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil for cooking
  • Steamed rice or noodles for serving
  • Optional: sesame seeds and chopped scallions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain. Marinate with soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for 30 minutes.
  2. In boiling water, blanch the broccoli for 2-3 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside.
  3. Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil in a bowl to create the stir-fry sauce.
  4. In a hot skillet or wok, add vegetable oil and sauté the marinated beef until browned.
  5. Return the broccoli to the skillet, pour the sauce over, and toss for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Serve over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
