- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp Italian herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Pound chicken breasts to even thickness and season with salt and pepper.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with beaten eggs, one with breadcrumbs mixed with Italian herbs, and one with marinara sauce.
- Dip each chicken breast in the egg, then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven, spoon marinara over each piece, sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Return to oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider frying the breaded chicken in a skillet for a few minutes before baking.
