Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, spices, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop balls of dough onto a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and centers look underbaked.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Roll the dough balls in cinnamon and sugar for extra flavor. Adjust cayenne for desired heat level.
