- 2-3 firm apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Cinnamon, for sprinkling
- Nutmeg, for seasoning
Instructions
- Prepare the apples by peeling and chopping them, then toss with cinnamon and sugar.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter with granulated and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing in heavy cream until combined.
- Fold in the dry ingredients gradually, being careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the prepared apples.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Drizzle with a glaze of powdered sugar and heavy cream for added sweetness.
