Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
  4. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt in another bowl.
  5. Add the dry mix gradually to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped strawberries.
  7. Blend the cream cheese and sugar in a separate bowl.
  8. Spread half of the cake batter in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  9. Spoon dollops of cream cheese mixture over the batter and swirl gently.
  10. Top with remaining batter and sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
  11. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  12. Cool in the pan before cutting into squares and serve.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of vanilla to the cream cheese mixture.
