- 4 slices of bread (sourdough or white)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tsp Italian herbs (oregano and basil)
- Optional fillings: pepperoni slices, sautéed mushrooms, olives
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients: Gather all your ingredients and set them on the kitchen counter.
- Butter the bread: Spread a generous layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the fillings: On the unbuttered side, spoon tomato sauce, sprinkle with cheese, and add toppings.
- Grill the sandwich: Place the sandwich, butter side down, into a preheated skillet over medium heat.
- Flip and cook: When the bottom is golden brown, carefully flip the sandwich and cook until the cheese melted.
- Serve and enjoy: Remove from the skillet, let cool slightly, then cut in half and serve.
