Ingredients

  • Chicken (breast or thighs; preferably bone-in thighs)
  • Chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • Garlic, chopped

  • Celery, chopped

  • Baking powder
  • Milk

  • Fresh thyme and parsley
  • Carrots, chopped
  • Additional seasonings (salt, pepper)

Instructions

  1. Cook the chicken in a pot until golden brown, then set aside.
  2. Sauté onions, garlic, and celery in the same pot until fragrant.
  3. Add the broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. Return the chicken to the pot and simmer until fully cooked.
  5. Combine flour, baking powder, milk, and butter in a bowl and mix to form a sticky dough.
  6. Plop spoonfuls of dumpling batter on top of the chicken and broth mixture.
  7. Cover the pot and steam the dumplings for about 15 minutes.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped herbs.
