Ingredients
- Chicken (breast or thighs; preferably bone-in thighs)
- Chicken broth or vegetable broth
- Garlic, chopped
- Onions, chopped
- Celery, chopped
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Milk
- Butter
- Fresh thyme and parsley
- Carrots, chopped
- Additional seasonings (salt, pepper)
Instructions
- Cook the chicken in a pot until golden brown, then set aside.
- Sauté onions, garlic, and celery in the same pot until fragrant.
- Add the broth and bring to a simmer.
- Return the chicken to the pot and simmer until fully cooked.
- Combine flour, baking powder, milk, and butter in a bowl and mix to form a sticky dough.
- Plop spoonfuls of dumpling batter on top of the chicken and broth mixture.
- Cover the pot and steam the dumplings for about 15 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped herbs.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using rotisserie chicken or incorporating seasonal vegetables.
