Ingredients
- 1 pound ground lamb or beef
- 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1 cup peas
- 1 cup diced mushrooms (cremini or button)
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary
- 1 cup chicken or beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Add oil to a skillet and sauté diced onions and garlic until fragrant.
- Cook the ground meat in the skillet until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Stir in the chopped vegetables, herbs, and broth; let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Boil the cauliflower until tender, then blend with cream, cheese, salt, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and top with cauliflower mash, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegan version, use lentils or mushrooms as a base and coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
