Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb (or beef/turkey)
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 2 tsp fresh thyme
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Optional: garlic mushrooms, corn, or celery
Instructions
- Prepare the mashed potatoes: Peel and dice your potatoes. Boil until tender, drain, and mash with butter, cream, salt, and pepper.
- Cook the filling: Sauté onions in olive oil until golden. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Mix in carrots and peas, season with herbs, salt, and pepper.
- Assemble the dish: Spread meat and veggies in a baking dish, layer with mashed potatoes, then create peaks.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for about 30 minutes until golden and bubbling.
- Serve and enjoy: Let cool a bit before digging in to appreciate the comforting flavors.
Notes
You can substitute ground meat with mushrooms for a vegetarian version. Use low-fat milk or Greek yogurt in the mash for a lighter dish.
