Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cups steamed rice
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
- Marinate the beef: Add the ground beef into the marinade, mixing well. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- Sauté the mushrooms: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil. Toss in your sliced mushrooms and sauté until they’re golden and tender—about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the beef: In the same skillet, increase the heat slightly and add the marinated beef. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through—about 8-10 minutes.
- Combine and serve: Add the cooked mushrooms back to the skillet with the beef. Toss everything together until thoroughly mixed and sprinkle with chopped green onions. Serve over rice.
Notes
Serve with kimchi or sautéed greens for a complete meal. For added spice, mix in gochujang while cooking.
