Deliciously moist Apple Brownies featuring the perfect blend of chocolate and fresh apples.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups chopped fresh apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • Nuts (optional, chopped walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, melt butter. Add eggs, mixing until combined, then stir in chopped apples and nuts if desired.
  4. Combine the dry and wet mixtures, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

For best results, use firm and fresh apples. Optional toppings include whipped cream or caramel sauce.
