Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13 inch pan by greasing with cooking spray or butter and dusting with flour.
- Mix the cake batter in a large bowl with the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil.
- Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan.
- Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the batter.
- Add the remaining cake batter over the cream cheese layer.
- Swirl gently with a knife to create the earthquake effect.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts and chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool before serving and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing, and let the cake cool properly before slicing.
