Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×13 inch pan by greasing with cooking spray or butter and dusting with flour.
  3. Mix the cake batter in a large bowl with the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil.
  4. Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the batter.
  7. Add the remaining cake batter over the cream cheese layer.
  8. Swirl gently with a knife to create the earthquake effect.
  9. Sprinkle the chopped nuts and chocolate chips on top.
  10. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool before serving and dust with powdered sugar.
